La storia dell’arte di Chad Wys

“Despite everything, and true to my postmodern roots, in the end as in the beginning I leave the activity, reception, and understanding of my work entirely in the viewer’s hands. It is meant to mean different things to different people who are at different stages of understanding”.

Come?

The history of art about Chad Wys

Chad Wys, multidisciplinary American artist, that since childhood prefers illustrated books devoted to modern art rather than toys. The Impressionists were his idols, and museums and its arenas. This naive fascination for art and its history will accompany him throughout adolescence, up to evolve into a full-blown artistic vocation in adulthood. While at university, he is passionate about contemporary art, conceptualism and movements like Dadaism and minimalism, totally fascinated by the post-modern thought. During the specialized studies it develops a visual art style and a personal visual vocabulary, suitable to share their ideas but also to provoke critical reflection in the audience, both means to finally express his complex philosophical theories of objects, images and art same. Without setting limits, his works are of all kinds, from ready-mades collages switching from 3D manipulation, and handwriting. Chad Wys poses existential questions such as: what is the nature and the purpose of art? why? How? With works sometimes violent, brutal, but always playful and engaged.

When it came time to develop and define a methodology, Wys has simply adapted the technique of literary quotation in the world of the visual. Search, view and adapt the urban materials are the steps of his creative process for dealing with contemporary culture and information, aiming to criticize. More generally, the work of Wys revolves around the concept of “visualization” of images and objects, decorations and works of art and as the manifestations of their reproductions come to influence our everyday experiences. “We live in the era of the Internet and digital reproductions transmitted instantly and continuously. As observers, we must be vigilant, and distinguish between the aesthetic and the context, form and function, and between representation and similar dissociation from the original”.
